This meedication is classified as a retinoid and belong to a group of medications that are related to Vitamin A. By decreasing the “stickiness” of skin cells, promoting exfoliation, and decreasing sebum (oil) production, retinoids are very effective in treating the blackheads and whiteheads that are the initial cause of all acne blemishes. These effects cannot be achieved by any other topical medication or by oral antibiotics.
